July 22, 2019 – On Saturday, September 7, 2019, CTA member Manuela Sifuentes will be presenting a workshop on Creating an English-Spanish Glossary for Consistency in Local Terminology in the Boulder County Area. This workshop will be held from 1 pm to 3:30 pm at the Boulder Main Public Library on Arapahoe Ave. in Boulder, CO.
This workshop has been approved for 3 ATA, 0.25 IMIA/NBCMI, and 2.5 CCHI Continuing Education credits.
This workshop looks to crowd-source a glossary of terminology provided by the City of Boulder, City of Longmont, and Boulder County and create a mutually agreed-upon “official” translation to propose to government officials, that is accurate, consistent and fits our local culture. Terms consist of names of government offices/departments as well as emerging terminology (such as Boulder’s use of “local power” for municipalization efforts).
Cost to attend the workshop is $25 for members, $45 for non-members. Light snacks will be provided.
Manuela Stewart Sifuentes, CoreCHI, spent her childhood going back and forth between the United States and Guatemala, learning to straddle both worlds and move seamlessly between two languages and cultures. She’s been working in language access since 2003, when she began coordinating medical interpreter services for immigrants in Washington, DC. In 2013 she moved back to Colorado and founded her company, Malinalli Language Consultants. She’s a CoreCHI certified medical interpreter, and a member of the Colorado Interpreters & Translators Association and the American Translators Association.
