CTA Annual Dinner Festivities

CTA kicks off another year with delicious food and delightful conversation!

On a pleasant Saturday in January, CTA members gathered for another great Annual Holiday Dinner at Maggiano’s Little Italy in the heart of downtown Denver.

A prix fixe menu offered a tasty variety, including: Tomato Caprese, Calamari Fritte, Chopped Apple & Walnut Salad, Chicken & Ricotta Meatballs, Chicken Piccata, Eggplant Rollatini, Profiteroles and Apple Crostada.

A total of 30 members and spouses came from near and far (even internationally!) to enjoy a family-style Italian dinner, great conversation, fun games and exciting prizes.

Thanks to Kate Avdeeva, and with the help of Rachel Sinn and Karen Williams, it was another memorable event. Rosabelle Aguirre de Rice served as our engaging Master of Ceremonies, while Cris Silva captured many great moments as our official paparazzi.

Through an inspired game of Who’s Who, we learned much about each other. For example, who loves knitting and who enjoys sewing, who has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, who has become an expert in rare fungal infections, whose dog can fetch a beer from the fridge or who is a black belt! It goes without saying, there were many interesting exchanges.

For their excellent investigative prowess, Sabine Enzinger-Hatch and Kathy DiCenzo each won a copy of Eve Lindemuth Bodeux’s book Maintaining Your Second Language, while Mathieu Seton and Riccardo Schiaffino both won copies of Corinne McKay’s How to Succeed as a Freelance Translator (generously donated by Eve and Corinne, respectively). Riccardo was the overall biggest winner, as he also went home with a free registration for the 7th Annual CTA Conference in April!

We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to our dedicated organizers and to all the attendees for their wonderful company. We hope to see you this spring at the Annual Conference, this summer at the picnic and, of course, again next January!
