The Colorado Interpreters & Translators Association gathered in Lafayette to celebrate their summer picnic. This diverse gathering brought together old American classics like hamburgers and hot dogs, together with exotic fun spinach pies, Peking duck, scrumptious powdery cookies, juicy Palisade peaches, apple turnovers, Russian beet salad and a whole bunch of happy and animated conversations. Also at the picnic, was a refreshing made from scratch cocktail kindly offered to quench the thirst.
Homemade pastries as gastronomy pieces of art
The group was able to enjoy a respite from the summer heat under the shade of the west shelter of Waneka Lake Park in Lafayette. The grill chef valiantly produced some savory meats. The Russis walked from their home a mere hundred yards away bearing a spinach pie…and still others drove to this community from the far reaches of Aurora.

We came, we ate, we shared and we conversed across cultures. Spanish, French Canadian, Chinese, Dutch, Russian and Italian were all represented. It was hard to say goodbye to such a fun and intimate group.
