Colorado’s newest class of legislators includes a Spanish interpreter and company owner. Elizabeth Velasco has translated, interpreted and managed her own language services company in Glenwood Springs for a number of years.
When asked her opinion of the most important aspect of interpreting, she mentioned that interpreting is important because it gives a voice to people — to be able to share what they care about. And she stressed the importance of language access.
Congratulations, Elizabeth, and we look forward to how you will bring language access issues to the forefront in the Colorado House!
