Attention, Sci-Tech Interpreter types!

Our colleague Steve Lank, who works with CTA member company Cesco Linguistic Services, is recruiting pro bono remote interpreters to assist students participating in the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), sponsored by the Society for Science.

The ISEF is in need of remote interpreters in a variety of languages (see table below), and for 2 different events. The first set of dates is May 3-6, 2021 (consecutive interpreting), which is the judging of entries. The second event comprises the awards ceremony and several 1-hour panel discussions on May 16-21. Portions of this event may be pre-recorded, and this interpreting will be simultaneous.

We all know that for many of us, translation & interpreting are second careers, so Steve is hoping that he can find some connections among people that may have a technical background, or an interest in helping promising students in scientific fields.

Language needs currently anticipated for judging (May 3-6) are as follows:
Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, Cantonese, Filipino, Gujarati, Hindi, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, Sinhala, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Urdu, Vietnamese, (other languages TBD based on Science Fair participants)

Anticipated languages needed for the ceremony and panel discussions (May 16-21) are:
Arabic, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish.
